The album was in large part a retaliation to Cash Money Records’ rappers U.N.L.V., Lil Wayne and B.G., whom he had developed a feud with. With major-label backing the rapper built on the success of his debut by issuing the full-length “Mind of Mystikal” in October 1996. Making an early name for himself with the release of his eponymously-titled debut in 1995, Mystikal subsequently inked a deal with Jive Records.
